Watching the Olympics tonight, we were touched to see the story of Kevin Pearce, an American snowboarder who was a strong contender against the almighty (and gold medal winner) Shaun White. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to compete in the 2010 Olympics due to a practice accident that left him with a TBI injury on New Year's Eve.
It's important for us to remember that TBI is not just a veteran issue. TBI can occur anytime the head experiences an impacting event, often with a concussion. Football players, people involved in car accidents, and others have exuded TBI symptoms and may require the same treatments as the TBI veterans. It is becoming an epidemic issue. We wish the best for Kevin Pearce and his family, and we hope that he will be able to return the the slopes soon!
