How does the VA define PTSD?

We may not always be happy with the VA (Veteran's Administration) or the treatment that we receive with VA doctors, but it IS the best source for military-related PTSD.

So how does the VA define PTSD?

Well, according to the VA established National Center for PTSD's website:

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can occur after you have been through a traumatic event. A traumatic event is something horrible and scary that you see or that happens to you. During this type of event, you think that your life or others' lives are in danger.

Seems pretty easy to understand right? Yeah, if only it were that easy.

But regardless of how one feels about the VA, The National Center for PTSD is a good place to start in one's journey. We recommend reviewing the following sections:

There's a lot of information to take in on the website, DO NOT BECOME OVERWHELMED. We'll look through the articles, videos, and information and post information that we find relevant. The VA is confusing, do not feel alone. But in the end, they're a wealth of information.
